Pumpkin Hunting At The Farm

Sometimes in this busy city of ours, it can be a real challenge to find wide-open spaces to run around in. The kind where you come home feeling refreshed with dirt-stained knees and grass in your hair. Sure Little Butterfly seems content taking her Little Tykes car for a spin around our block. She could play in her backyard for hours. But there's something about running around a big field that does children some good.

Luckily we found a little farm tucked behind a quiet neighborhood just ten minutes away. It's the kind of place that magically appears moments after escaping the honking horns and busy superstores, and you just think, "ahh, there you are."  Little Butterfly flew out of the car and raced to the chickens first. Another mama generously gave out some chicken feed, and she quickly became every child's hero.

We also ran through corn mazes, discovered secret tomato patches, and picked out the perfect pumpkin. The entire way home I heard, "More, more more! Pukin!" We both felt so giddy, with our new pumpkin and all, I finished the last of our fall decorating.

It was a wonderful afternoon.
