Little Butterfly turned 2 years old last week. I swear I blinked once at 18 months old and here we are. We celebrated with a pancake and pajama breakfast and invited her closest playmates and their families, along with her grandparents, aunts, uncle and cousins to help us devour all the deliciousness. Little Butterfly was beyond tickled.
It's amazing all the changes these little ones make in a year, in a month, or even a week. Heck, a day! She woke up on her birthday, her curly hair looking like a mad scientist and pointing to her shirt, "mouse eat cake yum yum." Then the next moment, "Me eat cake?" Then decided she'd rather jump on and off her toddler bed with her cousins instead. It's almost as if the moment she opened her eyes, she truly became a two year old both inside and out.
I swear she also grew a 1/2 inch too.
I ended the day rocking her to sleep and reading her birth story with tears in my eyes. As she dozed off I couldn't help but softly whisper, "Happy birthday, little one. I have no idea what we're in for this year, but loving you has been such a splendid adventure." PS - (Read her birth story here, if you'd like)
