Double Feature February

Two February sunny days in a row feels like we got lucky to see one great movie, and then snuck in for a double-feature. We race down the aisles and grab the front row with a view, feeling like we got away with something.

Sister Butterfly plays the heroine. She is brave, strong, and kind. She confidently leads the way, rescuing worms from drowning in the sea, and safely tucks away lonely seashells in her pockets found within the gently flowing tide pools. She can race down hills and stomp through mud at the speed of a freight train, and conceal herself within a tree with two good pals if she needs to take cover.

Brother Butterfly plays more the lovable sidekick - he's happiest near his sister, calling out to shorebirds and digging for treasure in the sand. He doesn't mind getting a little dirty for the sake of a good adventure. But he's also wonderfully content in his mama's arms, tickling my neck and pulling my hair with a mischievous grin, out of the limelight.

There's no doubt that these double-feature weekends are like the best kinds of movies - thrilling yet heartfelt, suspenseful in some moments and serene in others. But I must admit that my favorite part is when these squash-buckling heroes are tucked in their warm beds at night, and dreaming of their next adventure.
